But I'm glad I read this one, about a Japanese man determined to run across the United States before his 90-day visa runs out.K-san has a remarkable approach to life, where things that would have me punching walls are for him causes for joy. He takes genuine pleasure in the people he meets along the way, and they treat him with a heartwarming mix of curiosity, kindness and bafflement.His appreciation for the people who support his quest is a worthwhile reminder that even a man on a "solo" mission doesn't travel alone.Runners will undoubtedly appreciate his practical tips on natural running, as well as his thoughts on how to plan such a massive undertaking. I can't say he convinced me to find my ancient running shoes, or even to speed my stumbling up to a brisk walk. But he did bring a lot of smiles to my face, which is arguably a more memorable achievement.
